Turning one episode into a week of reels

One conversation, many moments worth sharing.

A one-hour episode holds many short moments that are worth sharing: a sharp opinion, a funny story, a clear piece of advice. Most listeners will never find them inside a long file. Short vertical clips bring those moments to people who have not met your show yet, and one episode can feed a whole week of posts.

1. Choose moments with one clear idea

A good clip makes sense on its own. Look for a single point that starts and ends cleanly, such as an answer to a question, a short story or a strong opinion. If the viewer needs context from earlier in the episode, choose another moment. Aim for roughly 20 to 60 seconds, and let the idea decide the exact length.

2. Make the first three seconds count

People scroll fast, so the opening decides everything. Start on the most interesting sentence, not on a slow lead-in. Trim the pause before the first word, and add a short on-screen headline that tells the viewer what they will get. If the best line comes at the end, move it to the front and let the story follow.

3. Always add captions

Many people watch with the sound off, especially in public. Captions let them follow the clip anyway, and they help viewers who prefer reading. Keep each caption to a few words, highlight the key word as it is spoken, and check the spelling of names. Place the text away from the edges so the app interface does not cover it.

4. Design for a vertical screen

Reels use a 9:16 frame. If you recorded on camera, reframe the speaker so the face stays in the upper middle of the screen. For audio-only shows, a simple waveform, the show artwork and the captions are enough. Consistent colours and fonts help people recognise your clips after a few posts.

5. Plan a simple weekly rhythm

Pick three to five clips from each episode and spread them across the week, starting with the strongest one on release day. Mix the types: one opinion, one story, one practical tip. End each clip with a short line that points to the full episode. A steady rhythm matters more than a perfect single post.

6. Give your editor a head start

While you record, note the time whenever something memorable is said. A short list of timestamps saves a lot of searching later. Share your brand colours, your logo and any wording you want in the headlines, and the clips will match the rest of your show from the first post.

You have already done the hard work of making the episode. Turning it into clips is a way to let more people find it.
